REGISTRATION FEES

ARCHAEOLOGICAL PROJECTS

• Medieval Funerary Excavation: US$1300 for a 3 week session or $2385 for 6 weeks (two sessions) - maximum 15 patricipants

Students and volunteers will be housed in the city of Odorheiu Secuiesc, Harghita County, central Transylvania. Participants will be housed in double or triple occupancy rooms, with  bathrooms and hot water showers, in a small hotel at 45min walking distance from downtown Odorheiu and its Museum. Breakfast and dinner will be served in a local restaurant during workdays (Mon-Fri). The participants will enjoy a variety of traditional Roumanian and Szekler dishes. Volunteers are responsible for their own lunches.

The fee is for the full 3 (or 6) week duration of the excavation  It includes a $385 non refundable registration fees. Usually, we expect the entire project fee to be paid in full within 14 days after being accepted to the program. No refund will be considered after March 16, 2014.

The registration cost does not include the trip to and from Romania. If you arrive at the pre-established times, someone will wait for you at the train station. Participants must arrange their own travel and health insurance. Participants are responsible for their own lunches.

No entry visa is generally required for Romania for up to 12 weeks for EU, US and Canadian citizens. It is always a good idea to check with the Romanian Consulate.

 

Weekly classes will be taught by the staff.



• Roman Settlement Excavation and Survey: US$1585 for 5 weeks (or $450 per week for shorter periods - 2 weeks minimum stay) - maximum 20 patricipants

Students and volunteers will be housed in the beautiful village of Rapolt, Hunedoara County. Participants will be guests of Romanian families and will have a chance to discover the true sense of old fashion Transylvanian hospitality. They will be housed in double or triple occupancy rooms, 2-5 volunteers per family. Breakfast will be served by the host family while dinner will be served, during workdays (Mon-Fri) in a local restaurant. The participants will enjoy a variety of traditional, home made Roumanian dishes. Flavorful local Romanian wines will be served with dinner. Volunteers are responsible for their own lunches.

The fee is for the full 5 (five) week duration of the excavation (for shorter stays, the per week price applies). It includes a $385 non refundable registration fees. All houses have  bathrooms and hot water showers. Usually, we expect the entire project fee to be paid in full within 14 days after being accepted to the program. No refund will be considered after March 16, 2014.

• Sarmisegetuza Excavation (Advanced): US$1585 for 5 weeks (no short period stay - 5 week mandatory) - maximum 8 participants

Students and volunteers will be housed in a beautifully restored rural pension, in the beautiful  village of Sarmizegetusa, Hunedoara County, at the foot of the majestic Retezat Mountains. Participants will be housed 2-4 occupancy rooms, with semi-private bathrooms. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided, during workdays (Mon-Fri). Because our meals are prepared for a large group of people, special dietary requirements are difficult to arrange.

BIOARCHAEOLOGY AND OSTEOLOGY WORKSHOPS

• Osteology Workshop: US$1775 (4 weeks) - 18 positions available
  
• Bioarchaeology of Infants Osteology Workshop: US$2275 (4 weeks) - 15 positions available
  

       The fee is for the full session. It includes a $385 non refundable registration fees. Housing is provided in a small hotel in Odorheiu Secuiesc within walking distance from the museum. The fee also includes teaching material, support and documentation (a lab manual and/or reading/reference will be provided upon your arrival), laboratory material (except lab coats), lectures (approx. 35h/session), access to the study collection, security clearance, museum registration. Usually, we expect the entire project fee to be paid in full within 14 days after being accepted to the program. No refund will be considered after March 16, 2014.
